In response to an increasing homeless population, 7 Hills Homeless Center is increasing its education services by 66% and needs folding chairs for the classroom.A legislative Joint Performance Review Committee Meeting held yesterday in Little Rock addressed how a $4 million deficit could occur in the University of Arkansas' Advancement Division. Arkansas Lieutenant Governor Mark Darr yesterday was adamant that he would not resign in the face of a number of ethics violations, though some state legislators say that impeachment proceedings are likely to occur. The Sebastian County Quorum Court has laid preliminary plans for expanding the county's Emergency Medical Service headquarters in Greenwood. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics posts November jobless numbers for Northwest Arkansas and the Fort Smith metro areas. And, the U of A Women's Basketball Team makes it onto a Top-25 list.
Ahead on Ozarks, the New Year brings an increased need for nurse practitioners in Arkansas. And 100 CEOs have given their opinions about what they think 2014 may have in store for businesses in Arkansas. The Arkansas Supreme Court is hearing a case regarding a man whose gay partner is prohibited from staying overnight when his 12 year old son is present, while Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel approves a potential ballot measure that would eliminate the amendment to the state constitution that bars same-sex marriage in the state. And a Mulberry elementary school is one of nine schools classified by the Arkansas Department of Education as "exemplary" in the department's annual school accountability report.
